Eucalyptus silver dollar seedlings (6)

Eucalyptus silver dollar seedlings (6)

*Each purchase is for six seedlings (plugs.) These seedlings are ready to be planted.*

Eucalyptus is definitely a slow poke, but in one season, given the right conditions, it can explode with growth. Eucalyptus is also a perennial in our climate, and will likely come back year after year.

Planting tips: Eucalyptus likes hot weather and a lot of water. (I plant mine in pots and put them in the sunniest parts of my deck.)

Cold weather: Eucalyptus can tolerate some cold temperatures and perennialize in our climate pretty well. I learned in 2023, however, that a week of temperatures in the teens will definitely kill all of your eucalyptus plants. (The other bonus of planting in pots is that you can drag them inside if Seattle experiences a cold snap.)

Harvesting: If properly cared for, you should be able to harvest branches or eucalyptus starting in September and into October.

Please note: I recommend growing Eucalyptus in pots. Here’s why: Eucalyptus is not native to the PNW. It also has a very extensive (almost invasive) root system if not contained in a pot and can grow so expansively it can steal water from other plants. (I have not experienced this personally, but Google tells me this.)

If you do plant it in the ground, give it at least 18” of space because the roots go crazy.
